Two entrepreneurs worked on LED retrofit kit and have found that the retrofit kit is complicated and time consuming when installed into the current light fixtures with fluorescent lamps. They focused on developing T8 and T12 LED tubes that can directly replace the glass fluorescent lamps without modifications. At the end of 2013, they have developed the first generation LED tubes that work with magnetic and electronic ballasts. Currently, they have further developed the technology of direct replacement for all the linear T8 and T12 fluorescent lamps up to 8 feet.
